Phi Chapter's Chartering

'Phi Chapter was chartered Saturday, May 17, 1919 at Ohio University in Athens, OH.  Xi chapter (Wilberforce University, Xenia, OH) and its members were given the task of initiating men from Ohio University into the fraternity.

History of Phi Chapter

The Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was the first African-American student organization and fraternity on the campus of Ohio University.

Alpha Phi Alpha Day

Declared in 1999 during the 80th annual celebration of the chapter by former Athens, Ohio Mayor Sara Hendricker.

Alpha Phi Alpha is the only fraternity that has this honor on the campus of Ohio University.
